I am currently the Associate Director of Undergraduate Programs and an Associate Professor in the School of Library and Information Studies of the College of Communication and Information Sciences at the University of Alabama.
I am an Information Scientist specializing in natural language processing, text mining, and information retrieval. I am experienced in various text analytics methods and familiar with their latest development, including rule-based, dictionary-based, machine-learning-based (including deep-learning-based), and the recent development in large language models. I am collaborating with domain specialists to apply natural language processing and large language models to a variety of domains, including materials science, heath, education, and humanities etc, in order to help with their information problems and assist scientific discoveries.
